Our Faculty

 

The key to the quality education which students receive at the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage is its qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty. Included in the faculty are instructors with graduate and post-graduate credentials in physiotherapy, naturopathic medicine, law and kinesiology.

Registered massage therapists with many years as private practitioners complement a diverse and enthusiastic team with well over 100 years of combined teaching experience and Clinical experience in the field of massage therapy and other health related fields.

Many of our faculty members donate time to the administration of the profession of massage therapy in New Brunswick, and bring to the classroom a broad understanding of current issues in massage therapy.





Courtney Appleby

After graduating from the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage in June 2005, Courtney became a massage therapist in good standing with the Association of New Brunswick Massage Therapists. Courtney works at ACTM as a clinical supervisor and as an instructor, teaching Remedial Exercise in the Senior Term. She also works at the Satori Center for Well being, yoga studio and massage clinic clinic in Downtown Fredericton since opening in 2008. Since graduating, she has continued to pursue her education in massage therapy focusing on pre and post natal care as well as labour support.

Courtney also attended the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology.

Angela is a clinic supervisor at the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage. She is a graduate from the Kawartha Centre for Integrative Health Education in Peterborough Ontario and has been practicing as a registered massage therapist since the year 2000. Angela is also president and owner of the Advanced Therapeutic Treatment Center in Fredericton, N.B. She is a member in good standing of the Association of New Brunswick Massage Therapists and The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. Angela is also certified as an infant massage instructor and a labour support provider.


Dr. Judah Bunin

Dr. Bunin received his BScH from Acadia University, his Master of Science degree at the University of Otago in New Zealand, and his education in Naturopathic Medicine at the 4 year, full time, post-graduate program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto. Dr. Bunin is the President of the New Brunswick Association of Naturopathic Doctors, and operates the Fredericton Naturopathic Clinic (together with his wife, Dr. Parissa Bunin) at 150 Cliffe Street in Fredericton, N.B.

Rosalynn Carter

Registered Massage Therapist


Rosalynn is the Campus Coordinator for the Collège Atlantique de Massage Thérapeutique in Dieppe. Her role as campus coordinator encompasses many roles at the school. She is a full time Instructor and supervisor; and helps with the day to day administrative functions at the school.

She graduated with honours from the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage in March 2006. Before becoming campus coordinator at the college she was previously a member of a multidisciplinary health service clinic and now operates her own private practice. Since graduating Rosalynn has specialized in sports massage and has worked with several teams such as the New York Islanders, the Edmonton Eskimos, and the Moncton Wildcats.


Nadine Currie Jackson

A graduate of the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy (1996), Nadine has operated a clinical private practice in Fredericton, N. B. since 1997.

From 1996 to the present she has been actively involved with the Association of New Brunswick Massage Therapists, and has been a board member for 11 years. She also holds a Bachelor of Physical Education from the University of New Brunswick. Nadine has 11 years experience as an instructor/educator both at the college and university levels.

She also regularly addresses public groups on the topic of the professional discipline of Massage Therapy. Nadine is a member in good standing with the ANBMT and CMTO.

Patrick Currie

Patrick Currie is the Financial Director of the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage since October, 2006. Patrick had completed the Business Administration program in 2000.

Since then he has continued his education by taking courses in several different areas including Website Management, Trade Show Planning, and Computer Applications. Since January 2001, he had started with ACTM as their Office Manager incorporating and implementing many of the procedures and Policies that help run ACTM to this day.

Patrick has volunteered actively on Committees for such Organizations as the New Brunswick Association of Career Colleges (NBACC) and the Canadian Council of Massage Therapy Schools (CCMTS).



Mary-Sue Daigle

Mary-Sue graduated with honors from Kine Concept Institute of Massage in 2002. Upon graduating, she worked in Shediac as a massage therapist for 1 ½ years before opening her own clinic in Cap-Pele, NB in 2003. Mary-Sue holds a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education from the Université de Moncton (1980). Prior to becoming a Registered Massage Therapist, she worked in management and marketing in the insurance industry for 13 years, gaining valuable information which would prove helpful in this field. She holds a Fellowship of the Insurance Institute of Canada (1991). Mary-Sue has taught at the Dieppe campus since its inception in September 2008. She currently owns and operates the Cap-Pele Massage Therapy Clinic and teaches in Dieppe. She also occasionally supervises clinic.

Mary-Sue Daigle is a member in good standing with the ANBMT and CMTO. Since
graduating, she has continued to pursue her education in massage therapy by taking various related courses in Cranio Sacral Therapy (CST), Myofascial Release (MFR) and Muscle Energy Techniques (MET). She is also on the board of directors of the Pine Needles Golf Course and was on the board of directors of the Business and Professional Women club in Shediac from its inception in 2003 to 2008.

Donald Dillon, RMT is the author of Better Business Agreements and the self-study workbook Charting Skills for Massage Therapists. Over 60 of his articles have been published in industry publications including Massage Therapy Canada, Massage Therapy Today, AMTA Journal, Massage Magazine (on-line, AMTWP Connections, Massage Therapist (Australia) and various massage school and professional association newsletters.

Don has presented to the Massage Therapist Association of Alberta (MTAA), the Association of Massage Therapists and Wholistic Practitioners (AMTWP), the Massage Therapist Association of Saskatchewan (MTAS), the Massage Therapist Association of Manitoba (MTAM), the Massage Therapy Association of Nova Scotia (MTANS) and the Association of Massage Therapists of New Brunswick (ANBMT). He has also presented to pre-graduates of the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage in Fredericton, NB.


Candace Gilmore

Candace Gilmore is the Academic Director of the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage located in Fredericton and Dieppe, New Brunswick.

A graduate from the massage therapy program at the Kawartha Center for Integrative Health Education in Peterborough, Ontario, Candace also holds a Bachelor of Education in Adult Education from the University of New Brunswick and is a graduate of Atlantic Yoga Teacher Training.

Candace is the former President of the Association of New Brunswick Massage Therapists (ANBMT) and has been a board/committee member for 10 years. She is also a member in good standing with the ANBMT and the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO).

Since 2001, Candace has been teaching anatomy and massage therapy at the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage. She also teaches anatomy for Atlantic Yoga Teacher Training.

Candace is a registered massage therapist; certified as an infant massage instructor, labour support provider, and Yoga teacher.



Lisa Ivany

Lisa is the Clinic Director and an instructor at the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage. She was the Treasurer of the Association of New Brunswick Massage Therapists from 2003 to 2006. Lisa is a practicing registered massage therapist, and after graduating from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy, became a member of the CMTO in 2000. Since graduating, she has continued to pursue her education in massage therapy, taking courses specializing in pregnancy massage, craniosacral therapy, lymphatic drainage, and sport massage.



Robert Jackson

Robert is a graduate of the University of New Brunswick, and has practised law in New Brunswick since 1979. His principal work is as instructor of courses in Professional Regulation and in Communication. He is active as a volunteer with a number of non-profit organizations in Fredericton








Sharon Jones-Gilmore

Sharon Jones-Gilmore is a practicing animal massage practitioner and a registered massage therapist. She operates PETrissage Animal Massage Therapy and Love Puppy Canine Boutique & Spaw, where she treats both people and animals. She is a 2005 graduate from ACTM. She has also received her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of New Brunswick. Sharon received her small and large animal massage training from the Northwest School of Animal Massage. She is a member of the Association of New Brunswick Massage Therapists and the International Association of Animal Massage & Bodywork.


Nena Kennedy

As a graduate of the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage in September 2007, Nena has been practicing massage therapy at Active Therapy Clinic in Moncton, NB ever since. Nena also attended the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2006. She has been working with the Atlantic Cycling Centre since June 2008 and as a result has travelled to various places working with semi professional and professional cyclists and paracyclists. Nena has also worked with local athletes at the Universite de Moncton, members of local running clubs and even with the New York Islanders while in town for training camp! Since January 2009 she has been working at the College d’Atlantique de Massage Therapeutic as a clinic supervisor



Jules LeBlanc

A graduate of the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage in December 2006, Jules has worked out of a private clinic in Moncton, NB since 2007.

Jules also attented the Université de Moncton where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2004. He has worked with various atheletes around the region, including runners,UNB and UdeM atheletes, and the 2006 National Champions Moncton Mets. Jules also volunteers his time at sporting events and fundraisers around the province. Since January 2008, he has been the Recruitment Officer for the Collège Atlantique de Massage Thérapeutique located in Moncton, NB.


Monique LeBlanc

Founder and past owner of Sport Med Acadie (Physiotherapy Clinic at the Université de Moncton), Monique has various work experience both as a physiotherapist and as an educator/instructor. As a physiotherapist, her main interest is sports physiotherapy; she is one of the few Certified Sports Physiotherapist in the province of NB.

As an educator/instructor, she has been involved in clinical teaching abroad, has developed and instructed a course entitled ‘’therapeutic exercises using the Swiss Ball’’, and has been course lecturer at the Université de Moncton for over ten years. She is currently acting as Director of the Sports Medicine Clinic at the Université de Moncton.


Christine Leger

A graduate of the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage (2006), Christine owns and operates MyoKinesis Massage Therapy Clinic in St-Antoine, N.B. where she practices along with several other associates. She is also an instructor at the Collège Atlantique de Massage Thérapeutique in Dieppe, N.B. since its opening in 2008. Christine is a part time 4th year student with the University of New Brunswick and is perusing a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology degree. She is also member with Fitness New Brunswick and is currently the President of the Association of New Brunswick Massage Therapists.



Cindy McNeely

Cindy McNeely, R.M.T. graduated from Sutherland-Chan School & Teaching Clinic in 1985 and has an active clinical practice. She began teaching in 1989 and has taught in numerous M.T. Colleges. In 1995, she formed Trimesters: Massage Therapy Education with her colleague Allison Hines, R.M.T. Trimesters provides pregnancy, labour support, infant massage, and hospital based perinatal courses for M.T. and M.T. students throughout Canada.

 




Justin Sappier

Justin graduated from the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage in October 2004 and
has been a member in good standing with the Association of New Brunswick Massage Therapists since graduating in 2004

Justin is a clinical supervisor at the College and has supervised several ACTM clinics including Sports Clinic, Regular Clinic, Wellness Clinic at the St. Mary's Health Center and several corporate and sporting outreaches.  He currently offers mobile massage therapy treatments at his client’s home and through
his home as well.



Sherri-Lynn Sappier

Sherri-Lynn graduated from the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage in December 2003
and has been a member in good standing with the Association of New Brunswick Massage Therapists since graduating in 2003. 

Sherri-Lynn has worked alongside Physiotherapists and other health professionals at the Fredericton Physiotherapy Clinic, a private clinic in Downtown Fredericton, since January 2004. On top of this she has also offered mobile massage therapy treatments at her client’s homes and through her own home. 

Sherri-Lynn works 
at ACTM as a clinical supervisor and an instructor, teaching Corporate Massage and Treatments.  Since graduating, she has continued to pursue her education in massage therapy.


Jessica Sears
Dieppe Campus

Jessica attended the Université de Moncton, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, in 2003. She is also a graduate of Massage Therapy from the Kiné Concept Maritimes Inc. School in 2005. Since then, she has worked out of a private Physiotherapy clinic in Dieppe, as a Kinesiologist and Massage Therapist. She also volunteers at sporting events in the Greater Moncton Area, twice at the Boston Marathon and with the Mathieu Martin Matadors football team.

She is presently working towards her Canadian Sport Massage Therapy Association accreditation, has continued her education in Myofacial Release and has a Kinesio Taping level II certification. Since 2008, she has been Lead Examiner for the South East Region and Regional Director of the South East Region for the New Brunswick Massotherapy Association. She is currently serving as the Vice President of the New Brunswick Massotherapy Association.



Jennifer Seguin

Jennifer graduated from the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage in June 2005 and has been a member in good standing with the Association of New Brunswick Massage Therapists since this time. Prior to embarking on a career as a massage therapist, she graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology in 2002 and worked in this field until attending ACTM. Jennifer has worked alongside Physiotherapists at the Oromocto PhyioCenter, a private clinic in Oromocto, since September 2006. On top of this, has worked as a Personal Trainer at Goodlife Fitness since August 2005.

Jennifer has recently started supervising outreaches for ACTM and has taught the Resistance Training and Leadership course for the students pursuing the Sport Massage Therapy Certification. She has continued to pursue her own education in sport massage therapy and myofascial release.


Tyson Stewart

Born and raised in Miramichi, N.B., Tyson has been a resident of Fredericton for the past eight years. Tyson graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. He then attended the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage and graduated in March of 2003 with a Diploma in Massage Therapy.

Tyson is the College's Sports Clinic supervisor and an instructor for their Sports Therapy Certification course. He also practices at Advanced Therapeutic Treatment Center. Presently he is a full time student at UNB, working on obtaining his Bachelor of Nursing.

Kara Taylor

Kara is a graduate of the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage (2006) and a member is good standing with the ANBMT. She teaches Neurology and supervises Wellness Clinic at ACTM. In addition, she practices as a registered massage therapist at The Oromocto Therapeutic Treatment Clinic located on CFB Gagetown. Kara is also certified as an infant massage instructor and a labour support provider.
