The Student Clinic at the Kings Place, Fredericton campus of the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage will be open from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from March 31, 2008 to June 5, 2008. The cost for a 90 minute massage appointment is $17.54 plus HST. Payment may be made by cheque or cash. Gift certificates are available. Treatments are conducted by trained student intern massage therapists, under the supervision of a Registered Massage Therapist. University of New Brunswick Athletic Therapy Clinic This clinic is offered at the University of New Brunswick’s Athletic Therapy Department, where students work with high performance athletes. Student Intern Sport Massage Therapists work with UNB Varsity Reds athletes, who are involved in contact and non-contact sports. Student Intern Sport Massage Therapists gain direct, hands-on experience in the various medical conditions to which athletes succumb as a direct result of their sport. Students access the Athletic Therapy Facility where they work with Student Athletic Therapists and coaches to improve the performance of athletes. Testimonials from athletes and coaches attest to the significance of this clinic for them. Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation This clinic is located at the Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation in Fredericton. A clinical practicum is offered at this specialized rehabilitation facility, designated as New Brunswick's Provincial Tertiary Neurological Rehabilitation Centre. Student interns are part of a team of health professionals who focus on a regionalized system of institutional and community-based rehabilitation services designed to meet the needs of the people of New Brunswick. Wellness Clinic This weekly clinic is held at the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage. This unique practicum offers students the experience of working with persons who are subject to severe pathological conditions, such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, Spinal Cord Injuries, Cardiovascular Problems and many others. Instead of only teaching students how to treat pathological conditions, the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage gives students hands-on experience, with the satisfaction of knowing there is a supervisor who is familiar with those conditions on site, to assist. Community Health Clinic Therapy Clinic This clinic is operated in conjunction with the Faculty of Nursing, University of New Brunswick, and is located at the Community Health Clinic on Brunswick Street in Fredericton. This is another internship placement in which students gain experience working with outpatients who are living with chronic pain and are receiving methadone maintenance Farraline Place Therapy Clinic This clinic is located at Farraline Place, 776 Queen Street in Fredericton. In this clinic students work with residents of Farraline Place and gain experience in treating members of the geriatric population. This is an especially rewarding clinical experience for students and for residents of Farraline Place alike. The weekly arrival of the student therapists is eagerly awaited. Capital City Road Runners Athletic Therapy Clinic This clinic is held at the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage and at the University of New Brunswick’s Athletic Therapy Department, during the training and competitive season for the Capital City Road Runners. Student Intern Sport Massage Therapists work with runners of various ages and performance levels. This practicum has proven to be very popular with students and runners alike. Fredericton Marathon Athletic Therapy Outreach This outreach is held at the site of the Fredericton Marathon, that in 2006 took place on May 14. Student Intern Sport Massage Therapists provide pre-event and post-event treatments for runners competing in ten kilometer, 21.1 kilometer and marathon distances. Typically, treatments are administered to approximately 150 runners in a single day.
